Key Features

  • Well-defined Details. Equipped with a 9.25’’ 6K exposure screen, the printer provides a large print size of 245*197*122mm and high accuracy of 34μm. The high-precision Z-axis ball screw combined to deliver fine details.
  • Anycubic Cloud. Support “USB-A 2.0 / LAN / WAN” and USB-A 3.0 / LAN/WAN control mode. No matter file transfer or printing, you can realize that just by one touch on Anycubic Cloud.
  • Smart Resin Filling. The new automatic feeding function automatically feeds the resin vat when resin is insufficient and stop when resin is enough.
  • Foundation Is the Key- The laser engraving pattern after repeated designs and tests greatly increases the adhesion at the bottom of the platform and improves the printing success rate.
  • Speed Up Your Experience. The self-developed Anycubic LighTurbo features matrix-arranged LCD beads, which provide strong light power, making high-speed printing possible.
  • Sharpen Your Prints. The screen contrast ratio is as high as 350:1, 75% higher than that of competitive products (200:1), greatly improving printing details.
  • Every Minute Counts. The maximum printing speed can reach up to 100mm / h. It takes only 1.2 hours to print a 12 cm high model, saving 1.8 hours compared with 3 hours of competitive products.
  • Protect What Matters. An extra anti-scratch film is included in the printer to protect the valuable 9.25-inch 6K screen and make the printing more relaxed.
  • Large Touch Screen. The printer is equipped with a 5-inch LCD touch screen, which is very sensitive to response and brighter in color, offering better using experience.

Why do I say the customer service is soo damn good?? Let me start with saying, I’m really enjoying the printer now. I got it back in October but was hesitant to dive into resin printing fully having tpu printers. I got this specifically for doing detailed parts for my small modeling. A smart person would’ve started printing immediately to see its potential but I waited a few months before I started. It was a rough start at first, resin is messy and a lot of work. That said, the results speak for themselves. It’s a great machine. Unfortunately while learning the system, my screen decided to stop functioning properly. I contacted customer service and got Viki Lee.. Best thing that happened. She took care of me with great communications. While I awaited the part, the LCD screen popped out while removing the resin vat. The warrantee on this parts is only two months which is crazy but understandable as the resin can damage this area if your not careful. But Viki took care of that also! I spent today getting the new LCD screen installed which was a breeze. The pros on the system are that it prints amazingly, it’s fast and with the air filters, you really don’t notice the smell. I’m using elegoo water resin only now so clean up is a breeze. And customer service ( Viki Lee) is amazing! The cons are that this is messy, resin can get into the smallest places if not careful. The control screen is really small so if you have larger fingers, this can be an issue also to see. Parts can be expensive, the replacement screen is seventy bucks and it has a very short warrantee so every few months, this can be an issue and they’re hard to find. It took me some time to find one. Fortunately Viki was looking out for me on Amazon.

Coming from owning and exclusively printing on FDM printers for nearly 4 years, SLA printing on the Photon S is a game changer for smaller/detailed prints.Out of the box setup was relatively straightforward, but I highly recommend doing some research on best practices when printing with resin – whether you’ve been printing with filament on FDM printers already or are completely new to 3D printing. Anycubic includes starter safety gear (mask & gloves), but you’ll definitely want to stock up on at least nitrile (not latex) gloves and some sort of cleaning solution for post-print cleanup (99% alcohol works great if you can get it).Updating to the latest firmware was quick and easy – just load onto the USB drive and follow the directions to get it loaded onto the machine itself. Anycubic’s Photon Workshop is a solid enough slicer program, though I use PrusaSlicer for its auto-supports when needed and then loaded the supported .stl file back into the Photon software.Leveling the build plate was simple enough – I followed the paper method that Anycubic recommends. After leveling, reinstall the resin vat and pour in your resin of choice. The directions say to fill to about the 1/3 point, which appears to be the point where the chamfer inside the vat begins. From there, it’s just a matter of selecting your sliced file from the USB stick and hitting print. Coming from FDM, I’m not used to being able to check for bed/build plate adhesion right away (since the first bit of the SLA prints are hidden in the resin vat for a while), but if your FEP film is properly tensioned you’ll hear a nice “pop” sound when each layer is done being exposed and the build plate lifts it slightly to release.Speaking of FEP film, make sure you treat it with care. I managed to accidentally puncture mine and caused slight leakage of resin on the screen below. Cleanup took some TLC with the included plastic scraper and IPA sprayed onto a paper towel, but it cleaned up after about 30 min. Replacing the FEP film itself, using one of the included spares, was time consuming but worth the effort to get right. Be sure to look up some YouTube tutorials on this if and when you have to do it to get some great insights on how to determine the proper tension for the film (hint: you test how it sounds with a spectrum analyzer app). All of my prints have been at 0.05mm layer height so far, but the detail is absolutely incredible, especially compared to what a FDM printer can do. Post-processing is a lot more involved, but that’s the trade-off for the level of detail you can achieve.I’ll close with a few thoughts on the build quality of the machine. It’s a solid, svelte little unit. The touch screen is responsive and software is straight forward. The hinged lid opens pretty wide, though I do have some concern about how far back it opens and rests – I wouldn’t want to leave it open for long periods of time to avoid stressing the hinge. The metal vat & ball-hinged build plate are nice and sturdy. Ventilation on the unit is adequate – you’ll definitely want to print in a well ventilated room either way. Odors from the machine are going to depend in part on your choice of resin. If I could change one thing about the design, I would have prefer the removable fan backplate of the original Photon as there’s a lot of great ventilation mods available for that design.

I’ll start off by saying I’m a big fan of Anycubic printers. When researching my first printer, the Photon S caught my eye. As I looked and learned more, I decided to start with an FDM printer, so I ordered an Anycubic Mega X.After I received it, it was so easy to get up and going, that within a couple weeks, I ordered another Mega X.Fast forward 6 months or so, and I decided it was time to start with Resin printing, so I ordered the Photon S.It was shipped faster than I expected, and packed well. I unpacked it, and got it set up. The build quality was solid, everything fits together well, and like the other Anycubic products I’ve used, they’re very easy to set up and get going.I was fairly nervous, as I’d read a lot and watched several youtube videos on resin printing, but really, they made it very easy. I followed the instructions, and started my first print. It came out exactly as I’d expected.I can now say that 3 for 3, Anycubic printers are excellent out of the box, and make it seem easy to start printing. I know I have a lot to learn about the intricacies of resin printing, supports, good models, etc, but with it printing right off the first try, I have more confidence that I’ll be able to succeed, and that I have a solid, competent machine, and I can continue to learn, and not be limited or frustrated by a machine that is finicky or hard to use, since these ones are great.
