Is Crafter3D open source? Can I download the files?
Yes. Crafter3D follows an open-source approach focused on transparency and user freedom.
After the Kickstarter campaign, you will be able to download:
- Complete STL files for all printable parts
- Full BOM (Bill of Materials) with specifications and suppliers
- Manufacturing-ready files (STL, STEP, and PDF drawings) for parts that can be outsourced to third-party manufacturers
This allows you to fully understand the machine, reproduce parts, and manufacture components yourself while maintaining compatibility and performance.
Do you sell assembled printers, or only kits?
We offer both options.
- DIY Kit – Ideal for users who enjoy building and customizing their machines.
- Fully Assembled Printer – Available at an additional cost.
For assembled printers, our team:
- Assembles the full machine
- Verifies mechanical alignment and electronics
- Tests motion systems, extrusion, and print quality
This ensures your printer arrives ready to operate and fully validated, saving you time and reducing setup risk.
Where can I find the assembly instructions and videos?
We are currently working on a dedicated documentation portal.
This will include:

These resources will be published on our website and official channels as soon as they are finalized.
Can I source or manufacture components myself?
Yes. While we do not publish the full parametric CAD of the entire printer, we provide everything needed to independently source or manufacture components, including:
- STL and STEP files for manufacturable parts
- Detailed PDF technical drawings with critical dimensions and tolerances
- A complete BOM to ensure correct materials and specifications
This approach balances openness with reliability, ensuring consistent performance while giving users maximum flexibility.
What electronics and firmware does Crafter3D use? Is a profile included?
Crafter3D uses high-quality electronics sourced from BigTreeTech and runs on Klipper firmware. This combination provides:
- Open-source control and customization
- High-speed motion capabilities
- Advanced features such as input shaping and precise thermal management
We will provide pre-configured Klipper profiles to help users get started quickly, while still allowing full customization for advanced users.
